Strange facts-Six year old girl who has had three hearts

At the age of six, Amy Ferguson is already on her third heart.

She lost the first to a rare condition at the age of two and her body rejected the replacement, leading to a second transplant. Several times she proved doctors wrong when they said they did not expect her to live.

Now she is in training for her school sports day and determined to do well.

'After everything’s she’s been through she’s still a happy girl who just wants to get on with life,’ said her mother Veronica, 39.Amy fell ill in 2006 and was expected to die within 24 hours. Doctors diagnosed an infection of the aorta which was destroying her heart. She received a transplant at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. But, despite anti-rejection drugs her body would not accept the organ and two years later she was back in the same hospital, where her mother was told she needed another transplant.

Despite severe complications, the nine-hour operation was a success and last week Amy returned to school in Dublin.

Frog-like Baby Was Born In Nepal

A frog-like baby was born in Nepal two years ago but died after half an hour of its birth. I pity the baby; his father didn’t care about the baby’s death and parading the poor freak in a pot around the streets.

On 2006, this bizarre-looking baby was born in Charikot, the headquarters of Dolakha district, attracting a huge number of onlookers to witness the astonishing sight.

The neck-less baby with its head almost totally sunk into the upper part of the body and with extraordinarily large eyeballs literally popping out of the eye-sockets, was born to Nir Bahadur Karki and Suntali Karki at the Gaurishnkar Hospital in Charikot. The Karki couple is a permanent resident of Dolakha’s Bhirkot VDC. The bizarre baby, however, died after half an hour of its birth, Suntali, the mother, informed. It was taken to the hospital after its death.

The news about such a baby being brought to the hospital spread like wildfire and there were hundreds gathered at the hospital to have a look. The police had to be deployed to control the crowd. The baby weighed 2kg at birth and was born after the normal nine-month gestation period. Suntali, already a mother of two normal daughters, was not suffering from any illness during the pregnancy. Nir Bahadur, the father, says he does not feel any remorse for the newly-born baby’s death. “I am happy that nothing happened to my wife,” he said.

Surgical Operation On ‘Eight-Limbed Girl’ Successful

Bangalore: A two-year-old girl named Lakshmi, who born with eight limbs, underwent an extensive surgical operation by a group of 40 medical doctors on yesterday night to leave her with a normal body.
Lakshmi suffers from ischiopagus that means she is joined to a parasitic twin, which blocked up growth in the mother’s womb. The developing foetus wrapped up the limbs, kidneys and other parts of the body.
In Luxmi’s case, the twins are attached at the pelvis and have single head and two pairs of arms and legs. The surgery, funded by one of India’s new scientific multi-speciality hospitals in Bangalore, is a 40-hour trial.

Dr. Sharan Patil, the orthopaedic surgeon at Sparsh hospital, said that Lakshmi reacted very well during the surgical operation. He also told that the first incision was made at 8.45 am.
“There were a few unexpected things but we were able to maneuver them satisfactorily. Things are progressing to our satisfaction and Lakshmi is stable,” he added.

Lakshmi was born into a poor family in a outside village in the northern state of Bihar, where people have respected her as an living form of the Hindu goddess ‘Lakshmi’.
Mr. Shambhu, Lakhshmi’s father stated, “Everybody considers her a goddess at our village. All this expenditure has happened to make her normal. So far, everything is fine.”

The surgery contains a bigger risk. The surgeons have to separate not only two backbones but also the two abdomens, four excretory organs and two chest cavities.
Doctors disclose that there is a 20 percent risk that Lakshmi will not survive.
"The complex surgery is being carried out to remove the extraneous parts very carefully and move up all structures into Lakshmi without causing any harm," Dr Patil said.
